Mindfulness Tours in Japan
With the goal of keeping you safe in each class, I encourage you to listen to your body, move in the best way for your and take the time you need, just for you.
Having a history of going hard, keeping myself busy and always at high levels of anxiety, almost always with back & hip pain, something had to give. In the end it was my health. Mindful practices including yoga and mindful eating have been the key to healing my gut, reducing my anxiety and alleviating depression.
I love that yoga is an individual practice, so poses can be modified to meet the needs of every body, regardless of build. I am not naturally flexible. I provide small classes that are more accessible to the those of you who think ‘I’m not flexible enough to do yoga’ with options for each person to find the best way for you to do your yoga.
I love exploring the best way to do each pose for each particular body, and how to modify it each day as we change. I can help you find the best way to meet your own needs on any particular day. To help you listen to your body and keep yourself comfortable and find the stillness you need.
I believe we all need time out for ourselves. Working through years of anxiety and more recent depression, I found restorative yoga a lifeline to stillness of mind & body, finding my old energy and rediscovering my self-worth. A pause button on the static that filled my chest, ears and mind.
There's nothing here like boot camp, or being yelled at in class. We need less, less strain… less pressure… less busyness… less doing…
And more, more self-awareness… more stillness… more safety… more just simply being… And I don't mean just doing nothing - try keeping your stillness in a stronger pose or balance ;)
With a background in anatomy, biomechanics & physiology, I've been teaching adults for over 20 years now, starting from English, business, moving to yoga then recently adding Mindful Nutrition and Japanese cooking classes, I love sharing health and self-care strategies with others.

Remedial Massage Therapist
Having worked in the disability (Japan and Australia), Youth Work (UK) and Mental Health (Australia) fields and helping those who are in need, I decided to widen my target group to include everyone who needs help, so I became a massage therapist.
I use a mixture of firm and soft techniques in my massage: firm pressure during deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy or acupressure, gentler techniques are used for Swedish 'relaxation' massage, myofascial release and manual lymphatic drainage. Previously I worked at a natural health clinic, focusing on women's health giving me extensive experience in pregnancy massage. I can also include reflexology in most massage routines.
After seeing many clients with similar issues, I decided to study Pilates in order to help more people reduce the frequency and length of any injuries. I am now a qualified Pilates instructor (with extra training for pregnancy Pilates).
I am more than willing to give advice on how to strengthen core muscles, advice on glute activation and shoulder stability and well as providing some tips on how to stretch tight muscles correctly.
I can see how the techniques from both massage and Pilates can work well in the body with a regular yoga practice to help balance out any imbalances we tend to bring into our lives through extended periods of sitting, hard physical work and the sports we do.
